Justin Bieber has deleted his Instagram – as promised – due to the negatively stemming from his new relationship with Sophia Richie.
Bieber’s threat to shut down his Instagram account was not an empty one. The pop singer, who had complained of facing criticism over his new relationship with Richie – particularly after posting a series of snaps with the 17-year-old – deactivated his Instagram Tuesday. Attempts to access his page yield an error message for the social media site.
On Sunday, Bieber had warned, “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate this is getting out of hand.” He added, “If you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like.”
Upon seeing the post, Bieber’s former longtime girlfriend Selena Gomez decided to weigh in on the post’s comments section. “If you can’t handle the hate, then stop posting pictures of your new girlfriend,” Gomez wrote. “It should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you and supported you before any one ever did.”
Seemingly in response to Gomez’s comment, Bieber wrote, “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love.”
To that, Gomez replied, “Funny how the ones that cheated multiple times, are pointing the finger at the ones that were forgiving and supportive, no wonder fans are mad. Sad. All love.”
Later in the day, Bieber’s on-and-off fling Hailey Baldwin seemed to address the drama on her own Instagram page. “We’ve all had our fair share of things we’ve done, both good and bad. What makes the present so powerful is when we take complete responsibility for our actions, we allow ourselves self-growth,” Baldwin wrote. “Misplacing the blame onto someone else isn’t going to get you to the next stage in life, so try not to manipulate a situation to make yourself look better.”
