He may not be getting his doctorate like Shaquille O'Neal, but Justin Bieber, 18, has passed one major milestone of young adulthood — the teen heartthrob, pop-star, and object of desire to millions of young Beliebers — has just completed high school.
Bieber's education has been rocky in the past, due to his superstar lifestyle, but now it's all over. "I just finished high school," Bieber told the Daily Telegraph. "I passed my test — I'm free! It was hard doing school and work every day."
Bieber's high school career has been far from typical, but he stayed in school for his mother. "That was something my mom really wanted me to do, so I had to do it for her," Bieber told the magazine. "I mean, this kind of lifestyle has given me a different perspective on life. I've been able to travel the world. At school, usually you have to do a lot of writing and reading. I'm really not into that stuff. I like to be out there."
Bieber, who just put out his single, "Boyfriend" from his new album, Believe, has been "out there" for years now as a performer, and growing up doesn't just mean being a high school graduate and driving a cool set of wheels. He also has a serious girlfriend, Selena Gomez, 19, who has been dating Bieber for almost 18 months.
Bieber has just released a new female fragrance, called Someday. $2 from every 100 mL bottle sold in Australia will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The remaining net profits will go to one of the other 20 charities with which Bieber is affiliated.
