Jurassic Park’s fourth installment recently got a new official title – Jurassic World – and an official release date.
Jurassic World will be produced by franchise alum Steven Spielberg, who helmed the first two Jurassic Park films. Directing the product is Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed), who will take the dinosaur films into 3-D with a script co-written by Derek Connolly, reported Deadline.
Actors have yet to be selected to star in the highly anticipated sequel.
Details regarding the plot of the fourth Jurassic Park film, the first since 2001, are virtually zero. In the decade-plus that’s passed since the last installment, scientific discoveries have been made that could very well change the appearance of the franchise’s famed dinosaurs. It’s now generally accepted that many dinosaurs had – on top of their ridged skin – a layer of feathers.
"Velociraptor was definitely a feathery dinosaur, and Tyrannosaurus probably was, as well," National Geographic blogger Brian Switek wrote. "In fact, other dinosaurs more distantly-related to birds — such as Triceratops — at least sometimes sported swaths of bristles, quills, or similar body coverings in addition to the pebbly tubercles of their skin. Dinosaurs were far stranger and flashier than anyone expected… if Velociraptor and Tyrannosaurus are reprising their roles [in Jurassic World], these dinosaurs should certainly have some kind of plumage. That comes right from fossil evidence and evolutionary logic."
What does director Trevorrow have to say about it?
No feathers. #JP4

Jurassic World was originally slated to hit theaters in 2014, but its official release date is now June 12, 2015.
