Juno Temple plays a young woman on vacation in Chile, who slowly begins to lose her grip on reality in Sebastian Silvia’s Magic Magic, which also stars Michael Cera. The 23-year-old British actress recently discussed getting into the character of the schizophrenic Alicia, and costarring with the loveable Arrested Development actor in the film with Uinterview.
“I felt it was such a tragic tale for [Alicia] cause she’s so lost in what’s happening in this madness that’s just unraveling for her in this sort of reality and this confusion and utter terror you know — of not knowing who she is anymore,” Temple told Uinterview in an exclusive interview. Talking about why she wanted to play the complicated character, Temple continued, “ [Alicia’s] in a place where she can’t relate to anyone or anything around her even nature becomes her worst enemy and I wanted to do that, you know, I wanted to challenge myself and I think it was an important, important thing.”
Temple, who first costarred with Cera in the 2009 Jack Black comedy Year One, spoke admiringly of the 25-year-old actor’s performance in the dark thriller. Describing a scene in Magic Magic where her character is force fed pills, Temple said, “Brink, Michaels character, walks in and really realizes what’s going on and realizes that this is much bigger than he can possibly fathom you know, and I just think his performance in that moment is extraordinary because you see this character all the way through and he has a moment of just vulnerability on another level. I love him in it.”
Temple currently has four films in post-production, including Maleficent with Angelina Jolie and the Sin City sequel, A Dame to Kill For. She’ll soon be filming comedy Girls’ Night Out written by Rufus Chaffee and Kristen Lucas and caper film Wild Side with Nicolas Cage and Johnny Knoxville.
Brown will be accompanied by guest artists Scotty McCreery, Mitchell Tenpenny, Ashley Cooke and Dasha.
