After the former Steelers wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster revealed that he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs a little over a week ago, some fans worried that he would begin posting on TikTok with Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes who has amassed a following by posting dance videos from sidelines.

Some of Mahome’s antics garnered criticism last year, including when he poured water on some Ravens fans heckling him, and when he unknowingly filmed a dance on Sean Taylor’s memorial number on FedEx field in D.C. Smith-Schuster is known for having a TikTok presence of his own, on which he recorded dances before games during the 2021-22 season, but said a collaboration with Mahomes is “not happening,” on Instagram Live despite their current proximity.

“Do I see myself doing that here? I came here to work… I came here to win,” Smitth-Schuster told fans in December 2021 that he would be doing fewer dances before games after his former coach for the Steelers, Mike Tomlin, told reporters he would be talking to the receiver about the optics of dancing on opposing teams logos. Schuster-Smith eventually said that he would be doing these dances less because “I felt like I didn’t want to be a distraction… what I can do to help my offense is put points on the board.

Smith-Schuster has still been posting frequently to TikTok in his new Chiefs colors, but it remains to be seen whether he will be as active as he was when the actual NFL season starts. His contract is for one year on the Chiefs, and he was reportedly paid out about $3.25 million to switch teams.
