A federal judge has ordered documents in association with Prince Harry’s visa application to be made public by March 18.
Court documents from March 15 show Judge Carl Nichols‘ decision to order the Department of Homeland Security to release redacted copies of the documents. Although it is unclear what information will be omitted from the documents, it is required that the documents include Harry’s answer to the question if he was a drug user.

The motion is part of a freedom of information (FOI) request from the conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation, which questioned Harry’s admission to the US in 2020 due to his history of experimenting with drugs.
Harry has acknowledged in past interviews, as well as his memoir, that he has experimented with a few drugs in his life. In his memoir Spare, Harry wrote, “[Cocaine] didn’t do anything for me…Marijuana is different, and that actually really did help me.

The Heritage Foundation purported that in 2020 Harry must have lied about his drug use, which should have disqualified him from entry to the US.
The request from The Heritage Foundation was initially turned down in September 20204, when Nichols ruled that there was not substantial public interest in disclosing Harry’s immigration records, but the think tank succeeded in convincing the judge to reconsider.
Appointed by Trump, Nichols shared the ruling, “The government has provided the court with its proposed redaction to the documents… those reactions appearing appropriate, the government is ORDERED to lodge on the docket the redacted versions of those documents no later than March 18, 2025.”
In February, Trump said that he would not be deporting Prince Harry, telling The New York Post, “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
Harry has explained the positive impact marijuana had on him following his mother Princess Diana’s traumatic death, as well as the role the psychedelic ayahuasca played in his conclusions that his mother wanted him to be happy.
