Judge Judy To End Her Long-Running Show, Set Launch ‘Judy Justice’

An era of television is soon going to be coming to an end. The television courtroom show Judge Judy is going to end after 25 seasons on the air. The star of the show, Judge Judy Sheindlin told Ellen DeGeneres about the end of her small-claims court show – and the start of a new one.

On March 2, the 77-year-old judge discussed with DeGeneres why CBS, the network which has aired Judge Judy for nearly 25 years, has decided to end the show. “Well, I’ve had a 25-year-long marriage with CBS, and it’s been successful. Next year will be our 25th season – silver anniversary,” explained Judge Judy. However, despite the supposedly amicable relationship, CBS is still ending  the show for financial reasons. “CBS, I think, sort of felt they wanted to optimally utilize the repeats of my program, because now they have 25 years of reruns. So what they decided to do was to sell a couple of years worth of reruns,” she revealed.

Despite the end of the long-running courtroom show, longtime fans should not fret – the television judge still has something up her sleeve. “I’m not tired,” said Judge Judy, revealing that she is working on a new show called Judy Justice. Although details about the show are sparse, and it is unknown what channel the new show will be on, Judge Judy stated that should be coming on the air the year after her current series ends. “Judge Judy, you’ll be able to see next year – full year, all new shows,” explained the judge. “The following couple of years, you should be able to catch all the reruns that CBS has sold to the stations that are currently carrying Judy. And Judy Justice will be going elsewhere,” she continued.
