A woman accusing hit producer and DJ Thomas Wesley Pentz, better known as Diplo, has been granted a restraining order against the music artist. This comes after she took Pentz to court over alleged sexually explicit images of her that he allegedly sent to other parties.
A Los Angeles judge granted a temporary restraining order barring Pentz from releasing of photos of the woman, who remains anonymous, in the “revenge porn case.” The woman’s lawyer, Lisa Bloom, argued that Pentz must not be allowed to continue sending her client’s photos to third parties. Pentz’s lawyer maintains that Pentz “in no way violated the law” and was actually a victim of harassment by his accuser.
According to California State Penal Code Section 647(j)(4) PC, revenge porn is defined as “the image of the intimate body part or body parts of another identifiable person, or an image of the person depicted engaged in an act of sexual intercourse, sodomy, oral copulation, sexual penetration, or an image of masturbation by the person depicted or in which the person depicted participates, under circumstances in which the persons agree or understand that the image shall remain private, the person distributing the image knows or should know that distribution of the image will cause serious emotional distress, and the person depicted suffers that distress.”
Revenge porn is considered a misdemeanor offense that usually only amounts to a fine.
