Joy Villa Wears ‘Build The Wall’ Gown To Grammy Awards [PHOTOS]

Singer Joy Villa, who’s made a name for herself by wearing infamously controversial dresses to the annual Grammy Awards, has done it again. At the 61st annual Grammy’s last night, open Trump-supporter Villa showed up in one of her most daring looks yet – a metallic dress with barbed wire shoulders and a crown, complete with a purse that read “Make America Great Again.” Underneath the top layer, Villa revealed a white dress painted with bricks, and turned around to highlight the “Build The Wall” slogan that was painted in red across her backside.

This isn’t the first time Villa has taken her political views to the red carpet. In 2017, she wore a dress that loudly declared her support for the controversial president, with the words “Make America Great Again” and “Trump” painted across the front. Last year, she went even further by showing up in a white gown that featured a self-drawn picture of a fetus, which she accompanied with a tiara and a bag that said “Choose Life.” And even before making political statements with her outfits, Villa was known for wearing attention-grabbing dresses to music’s biggest night, such as a revealing bright orange netted dress in 2015 and a barely-there black ensemble in 2016.

Villa was met with loud criticism for her choice of dress at last night’s Grammy’s, particularly from fellow artists and industry insiders who have, for the most part, openly expressed their disdain for President Donald Trump. But Villa took to Twitter to defend her choice, saying “I don’t care what anyone thinks. I 100% support the wall & our President.”

Desi Designs Couture, who designed Villa’s controversial dress, took to Instagram to explain herself. “DISCLAIMER,” she wrote, “The views, thoughts, and opinions expressed by my clients are not necessarily the same as my views, thoughts, and opinions,” while expressing in another post that “it was an honor to design @joyvilla 2019 Grammy look.”

Villa wasn’t the only one to make a pro-Trump statement on the Grammy’s red carpet this year. Singer Ricky Rebel also wore a controversial outfit, sporting a blue jacket that “Make America Great Again” on the front and “Trump” in bold letters on the back. Neither Villa nor Rebel were nominated for any awards at this year’s ceremony.
