Joy Behar, actress Candace Cameron-Bure and journalist Paula Faris will co-host The View this upcoming season alongside hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Michelle Collins and Raven-Symoné.

JOY BEHAR RETURNS TO ‘THE VIEW’

After taking a break from co-hosting The View, Behar is back for season 19. Producers are hopeful that the new group of co-hosts will serve to stabilize what has been a rocky couple of years on the show.

Behar was a co-host on The View for the first 16 seasons, after which she left the show along with Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Behar has guest-hosted often since then, but rejected the network’s offer to come back and co-host until now. When asked about why she left the show to begin with she explained that she was ready to go. “I had had enough. I think that somebody – I can’t mention names – made the decision to change the show for some reason. So Elisabeth Hasselbeck and I both had to leave.”

Jenny McCarthy replaced Hasselbeck for season 17, but only lasted one season, after which both McCarthy and show creator, Barbara Walters, left. Since then the producers of the show have invited Rosie O’Donnell, Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace to co-host, but none of them lasted longer than one season.

Behar stated that she was excited to return to the show, quoting The Godfather: “Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in … But I’m happy to be back home. And I’m looking forward to sticking my two cents into the hot topics, especially now that Hillary and the Donald are in the spotlight.”

Faris explained in a statement that she was “humbled and excited to have two dream jobs … What I love about ‘The View’ is that no topic is off the table and every viewer can feel like they have a voice on the show.”

Cameron-Bure is also looking forward to co-hosting. “I am honored to be a new addition to such a strong group of bright and opinionated women,” she said in a statement. “I look forward to sharing this exciting journey with viewers new and old.”

The View will be directed this year by its first female director, Susan De La O.
