Famed Hollywood writer Joss Whedon — who created Buffy the Vampire Slayer — has left the Warner Bros. Batgirl project, which he was set to write and direct.
Whedon said he simply didn’t have ideas for the new feature.
“Batgirl is such an exciting project, and Warners/DC such collaborative and supportive partners, that it took me months to realize I really didn’t have a story,” Whedon told The Hollywood Reporter.

Whedon also said he was thankful for DC Comics President Geoff Johns and Warner Bros. Picture Group Chairman Toby Emmerich.
“I’m grateful to Geoff and Toby and everyone who was so welcoming when I arrived, and so understanding when I … uh, is there a sexier word for ‘failed’?” Whedon said to THR.
Whedon has a history of working with the Warner Bros. Studios, as he wrote and directed The Avengers and co-wrote Justice League.

Sorry to hear that Joss Whedon left the 'Batgirl' project. I'm a big fan of his work and was excited to see him bring his unique vision to the DC Universe. I hope they can find a replacement who can carry on his creative legacy and bring this character to life in a meaningful way.
