Josh Herdman, who played Gregory Goyle in the Harry Potter franchise films, is now a mixed martial arts fighter.
Herdman, 28, recently threw himself into cage fighting after five years training in traditional Japanese jujitsu. Over the weekend, the former actor won the first mixed martial arts match of his career. In the bout, he bested Polish MMA fighter Janusz Walachowski at East London’s City Pavillion, reported the Daily Mail.
While Herdman is currently focused on his MMA training and winning a second match, he claims that he hasn’t given up on having an acting career just yet.
“I haven’t fallen out of love with it, I still have an agent and still go for auditions. It’s just a little bit like playing the lottery for a living,” Herman told The Mirror. “I don’t see it so much as a career change, I am passionate about both acting and fighting.”
Herdman appeared in all eight of the Harry Potter films as one of Draco Malfoy’s (Tom Felton) witless Slytherin sidekicks. The other, Vincent Crabbe, was played by Jamie Waylett.
