Actor Josh Duhamel is ready for Doomsday.
During a tour of his remote lakeside cabin with journalist Graham Bensinger, the 50-year-old actor shared his worries about the future, particularly running out of water and having to live off the land.
In the comfort of his 26-acre lakeside cabin, Duhamel has learned how to grow food and get water.
He even bought a survival guidebook to learn how to hunt an animal properly.
Duhamel thanks his dad, who brought him to that same “tropical paradise” in Minnesota about 15 years ago.
Despite all the bugs, he enjoys the place because it lets him escape everything.
He calls society “delicate” and criticizes people’s dependency on their phones.
The actor says he hopes life can return to “normal” soon, but until then, he will keep going to his cabin to escape.
The cabin has heaters, working electricity and renovated floors.
He said it looks a lot better than when he bought it.
When he removed the floors, he found carcasses of dead animals underneath.
He also discovered old magazines when he removed the roof, which he used to make wallpaper.
Outside of the cabin, he also built wells for water and has grown various plants, including clovers, turnips and radishes.
Duhamel recently announced that he and his partner, Audra Mari, are expecting their first child together.
Duhamel bought the property a couple of years ago for about $75,000 and has spent $100,000 more on repairing it. He says he’d rather spend the money on his home than anything else.
When asked how much the property is worth now, Duhamel replied that it doesn’t matter because he plans to pass it on to his kids. He hopes it can be passed down from generation to generation – if Doomsday doesn’t come first, that is.
