Josh Duggar was sentenced to 151 months in prison in relation to being found guilty of receipt and possession of child pornography on Wednesday. U.S. District Judge Timothy L. Brooks read his sentence in the Western District of Arkansas Federal Courthouse yesterday, which also included fines of up to $50,000.
Upon release, the former 19 Kids And Counting star will be required to have 20 years under parole supervision and will be prohibited from any unsupervised contact with children, including his children with wife Anna Duggar. He will also be banned from viewing pornography of any kind and will be subject to periodic polygraph testing by his parole officer.
Duggar’s sentence could have been up to 20 years, but on Wednesday the defense and prosecution agreed to vacate his count of possession, which Brooks called a lesser included offense with his charge of receipt. It was also ruled that he didn’t knowingly distribute child pornography.
Only a few members of Duggar’s extensive family appeared in court to hear his sentence read. Anna, his father Jim Bob, and siblings Joy-Anna (Duggar) Forsyth and Jason Duggar were the ones who showed up. As his former reality show title suggests, he comes from a massive family of nine daughters and ten sons.
19 Kids and Counting came to a screeching halt when Josh Duggar was accused of molesting several girls as a young teen, including his sisters Jessica Seewald and Jill Duggar Dillard. In a statement on her website, Jill said, “Until now, he has yet to be held accountable to the extent necessary to cause change in his dangerous pattern of behavior.” Jill wrote that she hopes “Josh can actually get treatment and begin to work toward a lifestyle where he is less likely to re-offend.”
