Johnny Weir Slams Jenna Ellis’ Criticism Over His Look At The Tokyo Olympics Closing Ceremony

Johnny Weir received criticism from former Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis for his eclectic outfit at NBC’s Tokyo Olympics’ closing ceremony.

The former two-time Olympic figure skater, who co-hosted alongside former figure skater Tara Lipinski and sportscaster Terry Gannon, debuted his outfit on Instagram prior to the ceremony. Weir wore Lapointe pants, a cream-colored Frolov jacket and AGL boots.  He put his hair in a high bun completed with a blinged-out hair clip in the shape of the Olympic rings.

While many people praised the Dancing With the Stars alum for his bold look, Ellis publicly bashed and insulted the co-host.

“#WokeOlympics closing ceremony clown. How appropriate and utterly embarrassing,” Ellis tweeted alongside a screenshot of Weir.

She then went on to retweet a screenshot of the NBC co-host adding the remark, “Bring back the days when boys cared about growing up to be actual men. Biblical masculinity over woke fragility.”

The bullying remark made by the Christian legal advisor led to a quipped response from Weir, “The man I’ve grown into is a human that embraces the strength of the man & woman who raised me to be myself. If you feel squashed by the boot of someone else’s beliefs, remember you are free to live your life the way YOU believe. Also, religion isn’t an excuse for hate.”

But Weir’s clap back was not enough to shun Ellis, who then responded with a lengthy note explaining how her words were, “far from being hate, it’s actually genuine love to speak from truth.” She closed off her statement by warning Weir, “Eventually Johnny, you’ll have to answer to God for your choices and beliefs. Choose truth and Jesus.”

When Weir departed from Japan on Monday, he expressed his gratitude to the country in an Instagram post. “As an athlete, I want to thank Japan with my whole heart. For many, the Olympic Games are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that is as fleeting as it is glorious. I was honored to be present here but more so, I am so thankful that the athletes had their opportunity to shine & make their dreams come true. Thank you Japan, for your bravery, your brilliance & for bringing our world an endless amount of hope.”
