Johnny Depp transformed into Boston gangster Whitey Bulger in the first trailer for forthcoming film Black Mass.
“What did you marinate this steak in because it’s out of the world. You’re killing me with it,” Depp as Bugler asks across the dinner table. When John Morris (David Harbour) tells him it’s a family secret, Whitey insists. John eventually gives in and tells him, causing Whitey to reply, “I thought it was a family secret. You spilled a secret family recipe to me today. Maybe you spill a little something about me tomorrow.”
“Just saying gets people sent away. Just saying got me sent got me a nine year stretch in Alcatraz,” he continues in t he chilling trailer. “Just saying could get you buried real quick.”
“Whitey could be charming and deadly,” director Scott Cooper told Entertainment Weekly. “Whitey Bulger’s attorney stopped by the set a couple of times and told me that Johnny not only looks like Whitey, he sounds like him and moves like him too. His charm. His cunning. Johnny captured all of that.”
