Johnny Depp Promotes New Film ‘Minamata’ In Barcelona

Actor Johnny Depp was photographed taking pictures in character while attending a photocall for his latest movie Minamata during 5th BCN Film Festival’s at Casa Fuster Hotel in Barcelona.

Depp plays American photojournalist W. Eugene Smith in the film, which is based on Smith’s experience documenting the effects of mercury poisoning on the citizens of Minamata, Japan. The film follows Smith 30 years after his documentation of the U.S. offensive against Japan during World War II, which solidified him as one of the most significant photojournalist’s of his generation.

The film is directed by Andrew Levitas, who presented at the festival with Depp. The film came out in 2020 and was written by Levitas and David Kessler.
