John Oliver Says He Didn’t Invite Donald Trump On His ‘Boring Show’
Donald Trump‘s latest Twitter insult was directed at John Oliver and his weekly show Last Week Tonight.

Over the weekend, Trump claimed that Oliver wanted him to appear on Last Week Tonight – but that he couldn’t be bothered to make time for the program.
“John Oliver had his people call to ask me to be on his very boring and low rated show,” Trump tweeted. “I said “NO THANKS” Waste of time & energy!”

Via the Last Week Tonight Twitter handle, the comedian hit back at the Republican presidential candidate, claiming that they had never reached out to have him on the show. “A couple of points…1. Yes, we have a boring show,” read the humorous tweet. “2. At no point did we invite Donald Trump to appear on it.”
Why did Trump take aim at Oliver and Last Week Tonight? Oliver, during an appearance on CBS This Morning, said that he had no interest in hosting Trump on the HBO show. He explained that he doesn’t think an interview with him would add much to the conversation, and that he’s not yet ready to engage in the 2016 election conversation on Last Week Tonight anyway.
“I don’t really care about him in any capacity. I don’t really have anything to say to him,” Oliver explained. “He’s said everything he has to say. He has no internal monologue, that man. It’s not like you’re going to find the secret nugget he has been holding back. He’s an open book. That book doesn’t have that many interesting words in it. ”
Oliver added, “It is very frustrating to me, the amount of coverage before the election. [It is] literally years in advance.”
