Celebrity couple John Mulaney and Olivia Munn welcomed their second child, daughter Méi June Mulaney, via surrogate.
“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” Munn said in a social media post on Sunday. “When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”
The actress also said, “Méi (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese.” She and Mulaney were married this past July and share a two-year-old son.
In April 2023, Munn revealed she had been diagnosed with luminal B breast cancer and underwent multiple surgeries, including a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy. Munn took a break from her acting career to receive treatment and followed a cancer-specific protocol for egg retrieval, through which doctors were able to remove two healthy embryos.
In March, Munn opened up about her cancer journey and expressed gratitude to Mulaney for his support.
“I’m so thankful to [Mulaney] for the nights he spent researching what every operation and medication meant and what side effects and recovery I could expect,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
