John Mayer Reveals His Latest Song Is About Ex Katy Perry

John Mayer revealed that his latest song was inspired by his relationship with ex-girlfriend Katy Perry.

“Who else would I be thinking about?” said Mayer about song “Still Feel Like Your Man” in an interview with The New York Times. “And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”

The pop star has spoken recently about his wish to settle down and have a family. “I’m right on time for my career, and I’m running late for my life.” Mayer will be turning 40 this year, and lamented that he does not have a partner to help him throw a birthday celebration. He also said that he “wants a baby with the protective earphones” waiting for him stageside after concerts.

“I’ve inherited a younger man’s reputation,” he added, saying he “somehow managed to become a bad version of a bad boy.” Mayer has dated famous celebs in the past, including Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, and Taylor Swift, but Perry is the one that stuck.

He admitted that since their split, he’s been using an exclusive dating app, but to no avail. “It’s just a lot of chatter,” he explained. “We all talk to the same people. There are very few people actually meeting up.”

Mayer released his most recent albums, The Search For Everything: Wave One in January and Wave Two in February of this year. While, he explained, it began as a breakup album, it become much more than that. “There were times when tears came out of me, and I went, ‘ok John, this is not about an on-again, off-again relationship. This is something more profound.'”
