John Legend has dropped “Love Me Now,” the lead single off his forthcoming new album, Darkness and Light.
Legend debuted “Love Me Now” during a Facebook Live session Thursday night, and released the song and its lyric video soon after. Legend wrote and produced the track with Alabama Shakes’ producer Blake Mills and John Ryan, who has worked with One Direction.
“ ‘Love Me Now’ is all about living and loving to the fullest, no matter what tomorrow may bring,” Legend said in a statement. “I’m so excited to finally share music from my new album. I’ve put a lot of love and energy into making this album special. I hope my fans can feel it.”
“Love Me Now” marks Legend’s first single since “Glory,” which featured Common. “Glory” was featured in the 2014 film Selma and won an Oscar for Best Original Song.
