John Galecki Thanks Firefighters After House Burns In Wildfire [PHOTOS]

The Big Bang Theory star John Galecki took some time to thank the firefighters actively working to contain the wildfire running through California this week. Galecki’s home was lost in the fire at some point between Monday and Tuesday evening.

“Thank you to the brothers and sisters of @calfire It is the profound risks that you accept and the sacrifices you and your families make that keep up safe,” Galecki wrote on Instagram. “Thanks also to the many of you who have reached out in support. It is far from lost on us here.”

Included with the message was a picture of Galecki hugging a fireman, standing on top of some of the damage caused by the fire.

Galecki’s home, located in San Luis Obispo, a city half-way between Los Angeles and San Francisco, was destroyed in the fire which ran through approximately 1,600 acres of land. The Hill Fire, as it’s being called, began on Monday around 3:30 p.m. and residents of the area were told to evacuate. As of Thursday evening, 88 percent of the fire has been contained.

About 250 residents evacuated the area and no one was harmed during the burn.

Galecki was not in the area at the time and did not return to the place of his home until Thursday, after the fire had been contained and the damage done.

The actor made a statement reflecting on the fire, his community, and the work of the firefighters on Tuesday.

“My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire. The threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile,” Galecki, 42, said.

“It’s never the structures that create a community — it’s the people. And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it’s that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it’s a time to reach out and rebuild. We’ve done it before and we’ll need to do it together again. And it will make our community even closer and stronger. Endless thanks to CalFire and the Sheriff’s office. I know you guys are fighting the good fight to keep us safe. So very relieved no one has been hurt.”
