John Christopher Ludwick, Man Who Claimed To Have Disposed Natalee Holloway’s Body, Fatally Stabbed

John Christopher Ludwick, the man who claimed on television that he buried Natalee Holloway’s body, has died after being fatally stabbed in a failed kidnapping attempt.

On Wednesday, Ludwick attempted to kidnap a woman as she was leaving her driveway in North Port, Fla. While he tried to attack, the woman was able to fight back. During the struggle, she was able to stab him with his own knife. Ludwick tried to run and escape, but was found injured in a wooded area. He died later in the hospital.

According to a North Port police spokesman, Josh Taylor, the two knew each other. Ludwick had an apparent obsession with the woman. “They were roommates at one point. He apparently became kind of infatuated with her. She was doing everything in her power to distance herself from him,” Taylor said.  She felt that he was also stalking her both physically and on social media.

The woman has not been arrested, as the stabbing occurred as an act of self-defense.

Ludwick first made news when he said on a television program about Holloway’s disappearance and death.

Holloway was an 18-year-old high schooler from Alabama when she vanished back in May 2005. She was on a class trip in Aruba, a small Caribbean island off the coast of Venezuela.

He claimed that Joran Van der Sloot, the main suspect of the crime, paid him $1,500 to dig up her body back in 2010, five years following her disappearance in Aruba. Van de Sloot is currently in prison, but for an unrelated crime.

“The idea was to crush everything to the point where it wasn’t recognizable as her bones or skull or anything like that. it was doused in gasoline in a fire pit in a cave,” Ludwick said on the television program.

Though he confessed, he was never arrested for his alleged help in the burial of her body.
