John Cena managed to reclaim his world heavyweight title at the WWE Battleground event on Sunday, July 20.
Cena, 37, went up against Randy Roton, Kane and Roman Reigns at the Battleground in Tampa, Fla. The Fatal 4-Way match saw Cena go head-to-head against Orton and then escape defeat when Kane joined the brawl. Cena ultimately sealed his victory in the competition when he pinned Kane.
With the Battleground win, Cena holds onto his title of the world’s WWE Heavyweight Champion. He’s now increased his impressive reign record to 12. Following his win, Cena took to Twitter to post about the importance of never giving up.
It was more or less expected that Cena would get the victory Sunday, as he’s one of the league’s biggest and most consistent draws despite being a polarizing figure in the sport. The win at the Battleground sets Cena up to face Brock Lesner at the PPV event later this summer.
