John Boehner’s former bartender at the Wetherington Golf & Country Club in West Chester, Ohio, Michael Hoyt, allegedly plotted to poison him.

John Boehner’s Death Threat

Hoyt planned to either slip poison into Boehner’s drink or shoot him and make a getaway in his car. The 44-year-old Ohio native has reportedly had psychotic episodes in the past, and heard voices that told him that the House speaker was evil and had brought about both his firing from the country club and the Ebola outbreak.

Hoyt confessed his plans to police last October. He claimed that he was exposing his plans in an effort to convince Boehner to apologize for his evildoing and open up about his part in the Ebola outbreak.

“Hoyt told the officer he was Jesus Christ and he was going to kill Boehner because Boehner was mean to him at the country club and because Boehner is responsible for Ebola,” United States Capitol Police Special Agent Christopher Desrosiers told CNN. “Hoyt advised he had a loaded Beretta .380 automatic and he was going to shoot Boehner and take off.”

“If I had any intention of hurting Mr. Boehner, I could have poisoned his wine at Wetherington many, many times,” Hoyt wrote in an email to Boehner’s wife, Debbie Boehner.

In response to Hoyt’s indictment, Boehner’s spokesman, Michael Steel, released a statement, which reads, “Speaker Boehner is aware of this situation, and sincerely thanks the FBI, the Capitol Police and local authorities in Ohio for their efforts.”
