Over the holidays, Rory Feek, the other half of the country duo Joey + Rory, expressed that his wife, Joey Feek, had a “heavy heart” over the holidays.

Joey, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer in May 2014, underwent a hysterectomy and vigorous chemotherapy and radiation treatments but doctors told her that the cancer had spread. In November of 2015, she decided to undergo hospice care and move back to her childhood home in Alexandria, Ind., where she wanted to spend the last days of her life. The couple have a 23-month-old daughter, Indiana.

The singer’s goal was to reach Christmas with her family but her husband said it came with a “rollercoaster” of emotions. His new blog post published on Tuesday titled “Seeing The Light” opened up about how she felt during Christmas and said she had “some good days and some bad days.”

His blog post continued with “though she managed a smile most of the time, Joey’s heart was heavy and she was feeling some things she hadn’t before… A sadness.”

When diagnosed, doctors told the singer she only had six months to live but the singer is still fighting. The couple is planning to release their last album, titled “Hymns That Are Important To Us,” on Valentine’s Day.
