Jodie Foster And Her Sons, Charles And Kit, Enjoy Tennis Match Without Cydney Bernard

Jodie Foster took in a tennis match with her two sons, Charles and Kit, on Monday. The trio looked quite relaxed as they watched the LA Tennis Challenge inside UCLA’s Pauley Pavillion. Kit, 12, nestled up against his mother, while Charles, 14, who also goes by "Charlie," enjoyed an Italian ice.

The event was much more low-key than when Charles and Kit were in attendance at the Golden Globes, where their mother received the Cecil B. Demille Award and addressed her sexuality. Foster credited her ex-partner Cydney Bernard in the speech with helping raise the boys.

“I hope that you’re not disappointed that there won’t be a big coming out speech tonight because I already did my coming out about 1000 years ago.” She went on to acknowledge Cydney Bernard as “one of the deepest loves of my life, my heroic co-parent, my ex-parner-in-love, but righteous soul sister in life, my confessor, ski buddy, consilliere, most beloved BFF of 20 years.”

The camera panned over to the boys multiple times during the speech.

“I am so proud of our modern family," Foster added in a shout-out to her children. "Our amazing sons, Charlie and Kit, who are my reason to breathe and to evolve, my blood and soul. And boys, in case you didn’t know it, this song, like all of this, this song is for you.”

Foster, who preached the importance of maintaining a private life, has never said who is the biological father of Charlie and Kit, but some have speculated that it is Mel Gibson.— Hal Sundt

  • I loved Jodie's speech and I was and remain happy for her. Not the rest of the gay community. This isn't about us. It's about Jodie and her boys and her acknowledging for them that they are a family to be proud of. There was one photo in particular where you could see on the boy's faces that they were beaming with pride as they were applauding for their mom. I know straight people downplay a gay person making such a public statement regarding their sexuality thinking it's no big deal. They have no clue how it feels to be discriminated against for their identity. It is assumed that when a child is born that it is straight and it is raised with those intentions. For Jodie to finally feel comfortable to stand up in public, in front of millions and acknowlege her true self is a big thing for Jodie. This woman should be applauded by EVERYONE, including her fellow 'family' members, rather than being chastised for not doing it soon enough. This is about Jodie and her boys, not the rest of us. The Gay community needs to stop being so self-centered and selfish. Rock on girlfriend..so proud and happy for you, Charlie and Kit. You're an adorable family..
