Jodi Arias Murder Trial: Prosecutor Wants An End To Arias's Tweeting

Prosecutor Juan Martinez moved to suppress Jodi Arias’s tweeting while her murder trial is underway in court on Monday, claiming that her posts are violating court rules.

“There’s been allegations that she's been tweeting … I've been told she indicates something about the prosecutor and how tall he is," prosecutor Martinez said. "One can't forget that she's a witness in this case and she's actually violating the courts rule by discussing her testimony … I'm asking the court to issue an order that she desist from that," continued Martinez.

The tweet in question, which has since been removed from the Twitter account attributed to Arias, had read: "Those afflicted with Little Man's Syndrome taint society's perception of genuinely good men who happen to be vertically challenged." On April 5, Arias was also presumably referring to the prosecutor when she wrote, “He who tries to establish his point by much yelling shows that his reasoning is weak."

Since judge Sherry Stephens was not provided with copies of the tweets, she deferred from issuing a ruling until she had further information. The Maricopa County Sherriff’s Office claim to be unable to stop Arias’ social media activity, as her actions are technically within the rule of law.

Arias's Twitter account, which has more than 27,000 followers, was launched in February of this year, according to Fox 10 News. Her friend, Donavan Bering, has been managing the account and updating it based on what Arias tells her during their daily phone calls.

Arias is currently on trial for the muder of her boyfriend, Travis Alexander, on June 4, 2008. While the prosecution is alleging that Arias had planned the gruesome murder, Arias maintains that Alexander's physical and emotional abuse led her to shoot him dead before stabbing him nearly 30 times and slitting his throat.

The trial will pick up again today, Tuesday, April 16, at 12:30 p.m.
