Jodi Arias Considers Accepting Plea Deal To Save Her Life
Jodi Arias, the young woman who was convicted for the 2008 murder of her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander, has reportedly hinted that she may take a plea deal instead of appealing the court’s decision.
Arias, 32, though convicted by a jury, has yet to be sentenced after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict on whether or not to condemn her to death. According to ABC News, a new jury will be selected beginning July 18, and that jury will, hopefully, reach a decision. Arias could, in theory, accept a plea that would sentence her to life in prison, taking the death penalty off the table.
Arias sparked speculation of a possible plea when she tweeted that she was not accepting donations to fund her possible appeal.
“I’m not currently accepting donations 4 appeals. Just don’t know yet if I will plea or appeal,” Arias tweeted on June 22.
The news of a plea came the same day as the premiere of Jodi Arias Dirty Little Secret, the Lifetime movie based on Arias’ relationship with Alexander and the murder.
