Jocelyn Wildenstein, Socialite Who Became Known As ‘Catwoman’ For Her Numerous Plastic Surgeries, Dies In Her Sleep At 84

The previous partner of Jocelyn Wildenstein, who died at the age of 84 on New Year’s Eve, has shared details of the Swiss socialite’s passing.

Wildenstein’s former fiancé, who was with her at the time of death, revealed that her passing was the result of a chronic illness and she died peacefully in her sleep. The two were enjoying a romantic vacation to Paris at the time.

In an interview, the fiancé told People that Wildenstein had been secretly suffering from phlebitis.

An inflammation that usually occurs in the leg, phlebitis happens when a blood clot forms in a vein and causes it to become painful, swollen and red. Despite Wildenstein’s struggles, Lloyd insisted that she had been in “perfect” health just days before her death.

He shared, “We had a nice happy hour the same night and we were getting ready for the new year, and we took a little nap just to look good before getting dressed. Because of her phlebitis, her legs were very, very swollen, and the blood was blocked and there was no oxygen in her brain.”

“We were having a nap and when I woke up, I said, ‘Jocelyn, we have to wake up, we have to get dressed,’ and she was cold and she was dead,” He said. “It’s very sad. It’s extremely sad. It’s extremely sad to lay down with your other half that I know for 21 years and waiting to celebrate New Year’s Eve and to find her cold.”

Lloyd further shared details from their last few days together, “We were at the Ritz two days ago. We were having dinner. Before, that, we had come for Fashion Week at Chanel. Everything was good, everything was good…were were having parties, she was in great shape. She was in impeccable health…She was at the top of her game.”

Wildenstein’s grandmother also suffered from Phlebitis.

In her younger years, Wildenstein was nicknamed the “Catwoman” due to the extensive cosmetic surgeries she underwent throughout her lifetime, which many thought gave her a feline-like appearance.
