Jimmy Gojdics, known for competing on Ultimate Survival Alaska, was shot dead at his Fairbanks area home last weekend. He was 69.
Gojdics was found shot to death in front of his home Sunday afternoon when Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a shooting. The reality TV star was immediately taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, reported the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.
“We are investigating it as a homicide at this point in time,” the AST’s public information officer told E! News.
The Office of the State Medical Examiner will be conducting an autopsy on Gojdics remains and the Alaska Bureau of Investigation is continuing to look into his death.
Gojdics, who moved to Alaska from New York more than 12 years ago, competed on the second season of National Geographic’s Ultimate Survival Alaska, using the skills he’d picked up working as a fisherman, blacksmith and more.
“We were saddened to learn of Mr. Gaydos’s untimely passing and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time,” National Geographic said in a statement.
