Jimmy Fallon Falls, Injures Other Hand During Award Celebration

Jimmy Fallon, who has been recovering from a gruesome injury on his left hand, injured his right hand in a fall Saturday night.

Fallon was in Cambridge, Mass., over the weekend to be honored by Harvard University’s humor magazine, Harvard Lampoon. While holding a bottle of Jaegermeister, the Tonight Show host tripped and fell, hurting his hand. He was subsequently taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment.

“Everything is totally fine,” a source told People magazine, adding of the incident that was caught on camera,  “It was all part of the celebration in the street and some random girl kneeled down in front of him abruptly as he was turning around and he tripped over her because he didn’t see her.”

Another witness from the parade celebration said, “Jimmy went to the ground, and everybody asked if he was OK. He said he was fine.”  Though Fallon was pictured at the after party with his right hand heavily bandaged, he took to Instagram Sunday to show that the damage to his hand wasn’t as bad as it had seemed. “Nothing that a few band aids couldn’t fix,” the Saturday Night Live alum wrote.

Over the summer, Fallon had to miss two weeks of taping The Tonight Show after nearly losing his left ring finger. At the time, he explained that he suffered what’s known as a ring avulsion and was forced to undergo emergency surgery to fix it.

“Basically what happened is I tripped and fell on a braided rug that my wife loved, and I can’t wait to burn it to the ground. I tripped and fell and I caught my fall,” Fallon explained. “So I’m getting up and my finger’s sideways. So I go, ‘Oh, my God! Did I just break my finger? This is the lamest thing in the whole world.’ It completely looks fake, like in a cheap horror movie where you see a broken finger. It looks like that!”

“Apparently, the odds aren’t great and usually they cut your finger off, but this guy did microsurgery for over six hours and had to take a vein out of my foot,” Fallon added, talking about the doctor who mended his hand.
