Jimmy Fallon Accused Of Creating ‘Horrible Environment’ At Work

The Jimmy Fallon seen on television may not be as cheerful and welcoming as he makes himself out to be.

Sixteen current and former employees have anonymously come forward to talk about what it’s like to work in the same place as the Tonight Show host. Nearly half of those employees claim the work environment was so toxic that they had “crying rooms” and would regularly hear jokes about people “wanting to kill themselves.”

Fallon’s mood changes are reportedly a common obstacle that the employees had and have to face in their daily work lives. They’ve even had to differentiate their days at work as “good Jimmy days” or “bad Jimmy days.”

“It was like, if Jimmy is in a bad mood, everyone’s day is f—ed,” a former employee told Rolling Stone. “People wouldn’t joke around in the office, and they wouldn’t stand around and talk to each other. It was very much like, focus on whatever it is that you have to do because Jimmy’s in a bad mood, and if he sees that, he might fly off.”

To warn other employees about a “bad Jimmy day,” they would tell each other, “We’re up against it,” to prepare for their day ahead.

“Sometimes we would get nice Jimmy, but that sometimes was not a lot,” another former employee said. “It was just really, really sad to me that this really talented man created such a horrible environment for the people there.”

Although Fallon has yet to publicly comment on the reports regarding his alleged toxic behavior, he apparently apologized to his co-workers on a Zoom call.

“It’s embarrassing and I feel so bad,” Fallon reportedly said to them. “Sorry if I embarrassed you and your family and friends…I feel so bad I can’t even tell you.”

Aside from Fallon, leadership may also be to blame. There has been a different showrunner each year for the past nine years.

“Nobody told Jimmy, ‘No,” an employee said. “Everybody walked on eggshells, especially showrunners.”

“You never knew which Jimmy we were going to get and when he was going to throw a hiss fit,” they added. “Look how many showrunners went so quickly. We know they didn’t last long.”

Because only two of the employees interviewed by Rolling Stone are current ones, however, the testimonies provided by others were from times under different showrunners, as the current showrunner, Chris Miller, is reportedly creating a better workplace environment.

Miller is said to have brought more positive energy to the show, making for a better workplace environment, and one Tonight Show producer told Page Six that the “atmosphere is very different.”

“There’s a new wave that came in a year and a half ago and has just made everything change,” the producer said.
