Jim Carrey is joining Saturday Night Live this season.

On Wednesday, NBC announced the actor, 58, will play Democratic nominee and former vice president Joe Biden on the upcoming season of the comedy series.

The show’s decision to enlist Carrey for the role surprised a lot of people since the actor is not part of the SNL cast. Biden was originally played by former cast member Jason Sudeikis. However, the show is known for bringing in outside talent to play certain roles, such as Alec Baldwin as President Donald Trump, Robert de Niro as Robert Mueller, Brad Pitt as Dr. Anthony Fauci, and more.

The show will return just in time to poke fun at the upcoming presidential election. The first five episodes of the season will fall before election day on November 3. SNL tends to draw more viewers during election years. Adding Carrey to the roster alongside Baldwin’s Trump should make for some fun takes on 2020 election news.

Saturday Night Live will return for its 46th season on October 3 with a limited in-studio audience.
