Jim Cantore’s Thundersnow Reaction Goes Viral

Cantore, a Weather Channel weatherman, was in New England over the Valentine’s Day weekend, reporting on the record-breaking cold weather and snow when the thundersnow hit on Sunday. And, while many people aren’t used to seeing thunder and snow co-exist, it’s Cantore’s extreme excitement that has people talking.

“WE GOT IT! YES! LISTEN TO THAT! OH BABY!” Cantore screams after the first thunder strike.

Cantore’s excitement only grew as time went on, and the anchor compared his thrill at witnessing thundersnow to that of winning the lottery, telling viewers, “You can have your $500 million jackpot in Powerball, or whatever the heck it was. I’ll take this, baby! Four episodes of thundersnow!”

According to Cantore, this was the fifth time he has experienced thundersnow on air, and the weatherman said it doesn’t get old. “It was an emotional ride. We just get into it,” Cantore said. “To have it happen while you’re on air is pretty amazing.”

Cantore expanded on his love of the weather phenomenon, adding, “It’s kind of like two seasons coming together. When you think about thunderstorms, you don’t think about winter. When it’s snowing horizontal and its frigid – and it’s like, ‘how the heck is this happening?’”

The viral video of Cantore’s reaction has become such a hit among viewers, fans have sent in response videos, including one particularly adorable one of a baby girl reacting to Cantore’s excitement.
