Jillian Michaels Quits 'The Biggest Loser' – Again

Jillian Michaels has once again decided to take her leave of NBC’s weight-loss reality TV show, The Biggest Loser.

Jillian Michaels Exits 'Biggest Loser'

NBC announced that Michaels would be leaving the show on Wednesday, June 25, revealing that the high-profile trainer would not be returning for The Biggest Loser’s 16th season.

"After helping hundreds of contestants transform their lives and inspiring millions of viewers at home,” NBC said in a statement. “The Biggest Loser and Jillian Michaels have decided to part ways and she will not be returning for season 16 when it airs in the fall.”

Michaels, who has left the show twice before, has not commented on her recent departure. NBC has not yet announced who will be Michaels’ replacement.

Michaels Speaks Out Against Biggest Loser

Following season 15, Michaels seemed to have no trouble expressing her displeasure with how the season had gone – particularly with Rachel Frederickson's shockingly thin appearance at the finale. "Nobody told me like, 'Oh hey, Rachel is very, very thin.' Bob [Harper] and I had no idea," Michaels told HuffPost Live in February. "Nobody had told us. Nobody had said anything to us. So yes, I was stunned. Obviously I thought she had lost too much weight."

Michaels also indicated the writing on the wall when she aired her grievances with The Biggest Loser’s producers, who’d made something of a caricature of her and her tough love method as a trainer. "The problem with Biggest Loser is that it's become such a cartoon of me and it's also—you maybe see what I've done in 10 days, you maybe see 5 minutes of it,” she told Us Weekly. “And of course, the 5 minutes that they're going to show is going to be the most sort of crazy, off the wall 5 minutes.”

In April, reports surfaced that after the Frederickson incident and the continual criticism she received, Michaels was indeed finished with The Biggest Loser.

"She is deeply concerned about the direction the show has been taking. She is turned off by the mean-spirited story lines and poor care of the contestants,” a source told People. "Michaels wants to distance herself from the Biggest Loser brand. Especially considering what happened with Rachel, her feeling is that there isn't proper attention paid to the contestants' health or wellness."

The Biggest Loser’s 16th season will kick off later this year.
