Jessica Simpson Celebrates 7 Years Of Sobriety After Shutting Down Relapse Rumors & 100-Lbs. Weight Loss
Jessica Simpson celebrated seven years of an alcohol-free lifestyle after shutting down drinking accusations in August.
The actress, 44, marked the milestone with an Instagram post, sharing a black-and-white photo of herself looking out the window of an airplane.
“7 yrs ago today, I walked myself into the light of being alcohol-free,” she captioned the post.
The post comes several months after the singer stood her ground when drinking accusations started to surface online.
When a fan told Simpson she should “stop drinking” under a post of her 11-year-old son, the singer clapped back.
“I haven’t wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017, and it has been the best decision I’ve made for myself and for my family,” she responded.
While Simpson thanked the user for their concern, she added, “You have me very misunderstood. Sending love your way.”
In response, the user said, “I’m so happy to hear that!! Sorry for my misunderstanding. Sending love to you as well.”
Simpson’s sober journey started back in 2017 on Halloween when she realized that she wasn’t in any state to help her kids get ready.
“I was terrified of letting them see me in that shape,” she wrote in her 2020 memoir, Open Book.
“I am ashamed to say that I don’t know who got them into their costumes that night,” she said.
Simpson recently lost over 100 pounds, leading many fans to worry that she’s dangerously skinny.
