A new teaser trailer for the Marvel-Netflix collaboration series Jessica Jones has been released.
The trailer starts with the words “7:54 pm. Hell’s Kitchen, NYC,” then cuts to a close-up of Jessica’s (Krysten Ritter) bloody hand forcing a quarter into a jukebox. She chooses the song “Bad Reputation” with Joan Jett, hits the jukebox to get it going, and then the camera switches angles to reveal only Jessica’s legs as she walks back across the bar she’s in where we see toppled chairs, broken glass, and people strewn about the floor who have obviously just been beaten in a brutal bar brawl. As she casually steps over them, she makes her way to the bar where a shot of whiskey awaits her. She grasps it with her bloody hand and gulps it down, then slams the shot-glass back onto the counter.
There is still much we don’t know about Jones’ character, except that she’s a bad-ass who can take on a whole bar full of people, and that she enjoys a drink.
If this trailer is any indication of what the show will be like then it bodes well for the series. The simplicity of it makes it that more powerful, and it fits with the style of Daredevil, which makes sense since the two series are part of four, live-action series from Marvel. The third and fourth parts of the set are Luke Cage and Iron Fist, respectively. Once the four series are complete there will be a team-up series containing all four characters called The Defenders.
The cast of Jessica Jones includes David Tennant as Kilgrave, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker and Carrie-Anne Moss as Harper.
The full Jessica Jones series premieres on Nov. 20 on Netflix.
