Three days after a snowplow accident that left Jeremy Renner in intensive care, more updates have come to light about the incident and the actor’s condition. He endured “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” and is currently in critical but stable condition, according to his representative.

Renner, 51, was injured Sunday when he was run over by a snowplow that weighed over 14,000 pounds, which he was using to clear snow from a private road near his home in Reno, Nevada. According to Washoe Counties authorities, the Marvel star was helping a family member whose car had gotten stuck on the side of a snowy mountain.

After he towed the car, Renner stepped out of the plow, which began to roll and subsequently ran him over. One neighbor said the plow ran over one of Renner’s legs, prompting a neighbor who is a doctor to put a tourniquet on him before paramedics arrived. Authorities received the call around 9 a.m. on Sunday and airlifted Renner to a hospital just before 10 a.m.

He underwent surgery on Tuesday and shared a photo to Instagram showing his gratitude to supporters.

“Thank you for all your kind words,” Renner captioned a selfie of him in a hospital bed with some apparent facial bruising. “I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”

The actor’s representative said he and his family were “tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
