After a tumultuous 20-year relationship marked by two engagements, two weddings and extensive media coverage, Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck.

According to court documents filed on Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Lopez, 54, it was cited April 26, 2024, as the date of separation between the celebrity couple. Lopez filed for the divorce herself without legal representation.

The filing also indicates no prenuptial agreement in place, and Lopez has waived any claim to spousal support while also asking the court to deny Affleck spousal support.

Lopez and Affleck, 52, first became a high-profile couple in the early 2000s, drawing intense media scrutiny that they say ultimately led to their first split in 2004. The two went on to marry other people, with Lopez wedding Marc Anthony and Affleck marrying Jennifer Garner.

But the pair rekindled their romance in 2021, setting the internet ablaze and leading to them getting engaged again. Lopez and Affleck then tied the knot last year, eloping in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022, before holding a more traditional wedding celebration in Georgia on August 20.

However, the marriage appears short-lived, with the divorce filing coming two years later. In recent months, reports indicated the couple was experiencing difficulties, with Affleck and Lopez attending events and celebrating birthdays separately.

In an interview last year, Lopez opened up about the “biggest heartbreak” of her life when she and Affleck first called off their wedding, saying she “honestly felt like I was going to die.” The songstress also got candid about their relationship on her latest album, This Is Me… Now, while Affleck appeared in a documentary about the making of Lopez’s visual album. In the doc, some of the celebrity stars questioned the wisdom of her public display of affection.
