On Sunday, Jennifer Lopez and her child Emme attended the opening night of Broadway’s new revival of the classic Shakespeare play Othello.

Seen outside of the Barrymore Theatre in New York City, Lopez and Emme, who is non-binary, coordinated their outfits with dark colors and light accents. Lopez wore a black two-piece dress adorned with bright silver sequins along with an oversized fluffy black coat. Beside her, Emme wore a black pinstripe suit with a gray button-up and tie, the ensemble complimented by silver necklaces.

On Monday, Lopez posted photos of her and Emme to Instagram, showing off their outfits in selfies and a short clip of the two preparing for the premiere. Lopez captioned the post, “Othello premiere with the best date ever ✨.”

Lopez and her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, welcomed twins Emme and Max in February 2008. Last month Lopez celebrated the twins’ 17th birthday on Instagram, showing a montage of pictures and footage of the family over the years. She captioned the post, “Seventeen. I love you beyond forever 🥥🥥.”

In a December 2024 conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Lopez explained how her experience as a single mother influenced her as an actor. “I’ve been a single mom at times in my life, and [I’ve asked], ‘Am I enough for them?’…and the truth is, all you need is really one good parent to love you…You are enough.”

Lopez previously noted that her kids have a hard time with her level of fame. In 2023, she explained to Audacity, “When they walk into the room, that’s what people are thinking about. They’re not seeing them for who they are. And I think that has to be a really hard thing for them. So I would love to have been able to protect them from that.”

Emme accompanied Lopez to the musical premiere of the movie Wicked last year.

A variety of famous figures were present at the premiere of Othello, including Kieran Culkin, Cynthia Nixon and Joe and Jill Biden.

Othello stars Denzel Washington in the titular role, with Jake Gyllenhaal playing the malicious villain Iago.
