Jennifer Lawrence Makes Fun Of 'I Beat Meryl' Comment In 'SNL' Monologue

Jennifer Lawrence, 22, got a teeny bit of flak for her charmingly witty Golden Globes victory speech for her winning role in Silver Linings Playbook, also starring Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro, with which she beat out Meryl Streep for Hope Springs, Judi Dench in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Emily Blunt for Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, and Maggie Smith in Quarter.

In the actual speech, Lawrence sing-songed "I beat Meryl," when she took the stage to accept the Globe from Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell. While some thought that the comment was too pointedly proud, it was actually a quote from the 1996 movie, The First Wives Club, starring Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton. Nevertheless, Saturday Night Live took the opportunity to poke fun at the incident when Lawrence hosted the first episode of the comedy show this month, giving a performance that is otherwise being called less than award-winning.

Now Lawrence has also been nominated for an Oscar for the Silver Linings Playbook role, and it was her upcoming competitors who bore the brunt of her not-so-vitriolic criticism. "I would never trash-talk any of my fellow nominees at the Golden Globes," the newly anointed "J-Law" explained during her monologue. "But the Oscars are a different story," she quickly followed up.

"Ladies, I love you all, but you're about to get served," she said, digging on Jessica Chastain with, "In Zero Dark Thirty, you caught Bin Laden. So what? In Winter's Bone, I caught a squirrel and then I ate it. BOOM! Deal with that!"

Next up was Naomi Watts. "You were in The Impossible, Lawrence said. "You know what else is impossible? You beating me on Oscar night. Naomi Watts-her-problem? She gonna lose!"

Watch a clip of the rest of Lawrence's digs here, and see if Lawrence can back up her "trash talk" when the Oscars air February 24 on ABC.
