Jennifer Lawrence & Joel Edgerton Smolder At ‘Red Sparrow’ Photocall

Jennifer Lawrence and her Red Sparrow co-star Joel Edgerton looked chic at the London photocall for their upcoming film.

Lawrence wore a little black dress with a plunging neckline and thigh-high slit, while Edgerton donned light khakis and a smart peacoat over a button down shirt. Lawrence’s outfit fit the part of her role in Red Sparrow, about a secret intelligence officer who uses her body as a weapon. The actress describes the newfound confidence and fierceness she obtained from her character Dominika Egorova.

“My character is told to strip in front of the class, and I had to strip in front of a class and an entire crew,” Lawrence revealed in an interview with Total Film. “I worked myself up [about the scene], I was really nervous. But [director] Francis [Lawrence] made me feel so much more comfortable. Everybody made me feel like I had clothes on. And then when I finished, I just walked out feeling empowered. I felt amazing.”

The actress made headlines over the weekend for telling a reporter that she planned to “take the next year off.” Her reps, however, clarified that she was not leaving acting for a year, as she has several project coming up. She will, however, be dedicating a large portion of her time to political activism with the nonprofit Represent.Us.

Edgerton, for his part, is excited about playing a role in a spy movie. At the London premiere of the film, the 43-year-old actor said, “I’ve been interested in the world of being a spy since I was a kid. When I was 10 years old I had a spy kit. I had binoculars. I had a recording device. I was fascinated by that world. I have no idea why. I don’t know if I was inspired by James Bond but I like the idea of danger.”

Red Sparrow hits theaters March 2.
