Jennifer Lawrence Donates $2 Million To Children’s Hospital In Kentucky
Jennifer Lawrence has donated $2 million dollars to the Kosair Children’s Hospital in her home state of Kentucky.

Lawrence announced the donation, as well as her challenge for members of the community to match the $2 million, in a video.
“I’m excited to announce that we will be establishing the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital,” the Hunger Games star says. “As part of my effort to help these children and caregivers, I challenge the entire community to get behind the cause and help match my gift by raising an additional $2 million to support all of these brave and inspiring children.”
Lawrence explained in a statement that she and her family have long had a relationship with Kosair Children’s Hospital, which is what inspired her to donate.
“My family and I have met so many wonderful children on our visits to the hospital,” Lawrence said. “Their strength and courage is inspiring.”
Lawrence’s mother, Karen Lawrence, sang her daughter’s praises, saying, “She’s all about giving … she’s not materialistic,” adding that the actress “has the biggest heart of anybody I know.”
“I’m so happy that we and she is able … to help another family,” Karen Lawrence continued. “It’s just giving from your heart.”
Thomas D. Kmetz, division president of Women’s and Children’s Services at Kosair Children’s Hospital, expressed his gratitude for Lawrence’s generosity.
“We are thankful for the generosity shown by the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation with this gift,” Kmetz said. “We are equally thankful that she has put her trust in the outstanding work taking place at Kosair Children’s Hospital every day by challenging the community to join her in support of our heart care program.”
