Jennifer Hudson revealed that her father had 27 children during his lifetime, and she “dreams” of meeting all of them one day.

Your Mama’s Kitchen podcast host Michele Norris brought up Hudon’s late father, Samuel Simpson while talking to the Dreamgirls star on a new episode.

“Your father had a big personality. And you went with your siblings and found him at some point, and you found that you had a lot more siblings,” Norris said.

Hudson laughed and said her father “apparently” had 27 children. The singer was primarily raised by her mother alongside her two siblings, Julia and Jason before she connected with her father at 16.

“It was my dream to have all of us at this grand Thanksgiving or Christmas table, and we all sit and eat together – that was my goal at 16,” she said.

Hudson said her paternal family members helped connect Hudson with her half-siblings.

“When my grandma on his side passed, my siblings over there were like, ‘Y’all got a sister that can really sing, you should meet her,’ and eventually we all came together,” Hudson remembered.

The singer is the youngest of the six or seven family members she’s met. Hudson only has one son, David Otunga Jr., who she shares with her former fiancé David OtungaThe former couple split in 2017 after ten years of marriage.

Hudson is currently dating rapper and actor Common. She recently told People that “Everything is wonderful” concerning their new relationship.
