Jennifer Grey Excited By Her ‘Red Oaks’ Lesbian Love Scene [VIDEO EXCLUSIVE]

Jennifer Grey stars in the new Amazon Studios show Red Oaks, a comedy series following the lives of those surrounding a the eponymous prestigious and exclusive 1980s country club, where young student David Myers (Craig Roberts) works. Grey plays David’s mother, Judy Myers, a recent divorcée who has begun to experiment with her sex life – with a “virgin” lesbian kiss.

Grey revealed that the season has so far been isolating, for both her and her character. “I felt very alone. I was away from my real family and I was feeling very out of the nest and I didn’t feel like I was part of everyone else’s scenes,” she revealed. “I had my own little story, I felt like I wanted to play and I wanted to I didn’t have any people to play with.”

That quickly changes when Judy is given a new love interest, played by Gage Golightly (Karen). “I got a girl to play with and that was fun, because instead of being kind of prurient—it wasn’t exploitative. It was a really nervous, almost sick-to-my-stomach kind of nervousness kiss,” she said. This is quite a jump for her character, whom prior to this experience has been married to David’s father, Sam Myers, played by Richard Kind. Grey said that the nervousness extended into how she felt during the scene. “And when I was doing it I actually felt a little—not sick to my stomach, but a little “ughh,” scared! And I enjoyed that, because you don’t everyday get to feel like a virgin at my age.” she joked, before quickly passing the question on to her nearby co-star, Paul Resier (Doug Getty). 

The first season of Red Oaks is currently available for streaming on Amazon. The second season is already in the works for later this fall.
