Jennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux Split After Seven Years Together

Jennifer Aniston, 49, and Justin Theroux, 46, have announced their split, after being married for more than two years.

The couple, who dated for four years before their secret wedding in August 2015, gave no reason for their breakup, but said the decision was “lovingly made” at the end of last year.

“We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship,” they said in a joint statement. “Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.”

A source tells People that the couple’s differing personalities contributed to the split. “Jennifer loves her life in Los Angeles, and if anything, she has grown more attached to being there,” the source shared. “Justin is not that comfortable or happy in Los Angeles all the time. He loves New York and always has.”

While the pair have spent a lot of time away from each other during their relationship due to work commitments, they had been even further removed recently. Aniston celebrated her 49th birthday party without her husband, but instead had a gathering in Malibu with gal pals Courtney Cox, Andrea Bendewald, Leigh Kilton-Smith and Kristin Hahn. Meanwhile, Theroux was seen in New York City walking the couple’s dog. Last year for her birthday, Aniston and Theroux traveled to Los Cabos, Mexico, together.

Aniston recently opened the couple’s $21 million home in L.A. to Architectural Digest. In the interview, she said, “I look around at my husband and my dogs and our home, and there’s nowhere else I want to be.”
