Jennifer Aniston Cuts Ties With Friends Who Refuse To Get COVID-19 Vaccine

Friends star Jennifer Aniston says she is cutting people out of her life depending on whether or not they are vaccinated.

The actress revealed she cut ties with “a few people” because they didn’t get the vaccine or didn’t share their vaccine status.

On Thursday, Aniston shared her thoughts through an Instagram Story.

A fan asked, “But if [Jennifer is] vaccinated she’s protected correct? Why be worried about having [unvaccinated people] around her?”

“Because if you have the variant, you are still able to give it to me,” she responded, referring to the more recent breakthrough of COVID-19 cases.

“I may get slightly sick but I will not be admitted to a hospital or die,” she continued. “BUT I CAN give it to someone who does not have the vaccine and whose health is compromised (or has a previous existing condition) – and therefore I would put their lives at risk.”

“THAT is why I worry,” said Aniston. “We have to care about more than just ourselves.”

Aniston proceeded to post another Instagram Story of embroidery that said, “What doesn’t kill you mutates and tries again.”

Breakthrough cases are COVID-19 infections that occur in people who have already been fully vaccinated against the virus. Though they are rare, the vaccines are about 90 percent effective in preventing COVID infections. The people who test positive, however, will likely be asymptomatic or experience mild symptoms than if they were not vaccinated.

Aniston first revealed her decision to cut people out in her friend group based on their vaccination status in September during an interview with InStyle.

“There’s still a large group of people who are anti-vaxxers or just don’t listen to the facts. It’s a real shame,” she said. “I’ve just lost a few people in my weekly routine who have refused or did not disclose [their vaccination status], and it was unfortunate.”

“I feel it’s your moral and professional obligation to inform, since we’re not all podded up and being tested every single day,” she added. “It’s tricky because everyone is entitled to their own opinion – but a lot of opinions don’t feel based in anything except fear or propaganda.”

In June 2020, Aniston encouraged her Instagram followers to wear masks and practice social distancing.

“This simple and effective recommendation is being politicized at the expense of peoples’ lives. And it really shouldn’t be a debate,” she captioned the post.

The actress appeared on The Morning Show in July 2020. She later revealed her friend Kevin was extremely sick and in the hospital due to COVID-19.

“Just think about those who’ve already suffered through this horrible virus,” she captioned the photo of Kevin in the hospital. “Do it for your family. And most of all yourself. Covid affects all ages.”
