In the latest Saturday Night Live episode, Jenna Ortega, the youngest person to host the show this season, performed a parody skit of the 1998 film The Parent Trap alongside Wednesday co-star Fred Armisen.
She acted out the twins Hallie and Annie in Nancy Meyers‘ big hit, which was itself a remake of the 1961 version starring Hayley Mills. Bowen Yang, cast as the less-than-competent director, is leading a rehearsal of the infamous scene when Hallie and Annie realize that they are twins in their summer camp cabin. Yang asks Armisen, a crew member, to step in as Ortega’s “twin.”
Armisen, however, keeps interjecting with inappropriate and random ad-libs, professing his love for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Lisa Rinna and commenting on how “hot” Shawn Mendes is.
Eventually, he and Ortega act out the part when they piece together parts of an old photograph of their parents, which match perfectly. Spectators can see in the photo that Ed Helms and Leslie Mann are the parents in the skit, however, rather than the film’s originals Natasha Richardson and Dennis Quaid.
In a dark twist that probably better captures the ambiance of Wednesday, Raymond then asked: “So they just split us up? Why would they do that to us? We’ve got to kill them.”

The shooter was identified to be John R. Lyons, 24, of Westchester, Illinois.
