Jenna Bush Hager, who has been a vocal defender of current first daughters Sasha and Malia Obama, admitted that she got up to some “hanky panky” in the White House during her father’s presidency.
Hager, 33, appeared on Andy Cohen‘s Watch What Happens Live earlier in the week and was asked about whether or not she ever “fooled around” at 1600 Penn. “I was 19 years old when my dad became president,” Hager prefaced her answer, also noting that she was dating her now-husband Henry Hager when George Bush was still in office. “Maybe there was a little hanky panky,” she admitted. “There was maybe a kiss on the roof.”
Hager added, “My husband and I did have our first kiss on the White House roof. It’s not the Fifty Shades of Grey people want it to be. Pretty innocent, but really lovely.”
The former first daughter then quipped, “I think I single-handedly brought back the word hanky panky.”
Hager, who wed her husband in 2008, also made the news this week when she defended the current first daughters, who were taken to task for their facial expressions and outfit choices during the annual turkey pardon.
“I’m fiercely protective of them,” Hager told Cohen on the show. “It’s not a job that they wanted.” She added, “[Sasha and Malia] have done an incredible job.”
